THE HENNA PLANT
is a woody shrub that grows in the deserts of western
and southern Asia and the Middle East. The henna is
a natural occurring dye that is used to dye hair. Catherine
Cartwright Jones has a wonderful page about using henna
for hair at: http://reverndbunny.sphosting.com/hair.htm.
Castle Art only imports pure 100% henna powders (no
additives unless otherwise noted). Also our henna has
no twigs or big leaf pieces.
There are other uses for henna, but that is usually
for religious occasions such as Eids, Diwali, Holi and
weddings. For weddings in India, the henna is finely
ground and made into a paste. Then the brides hands
and feet are decorated, very intricately, with the henna
paste about 3 days before the wedding. It is said that
as long as the stain is there, the bride does not have
to do any work until the stain is gone. For more information
on Henna, please visit www.hennapage.com.
